Community Education Classes

The Shelby County Community Education Program consists of several components including the After School Care Program (ASCP), Summer Camp, as well as student and adult enrichment courses.

Adult Class Offerings After School Care Summer Camp


Adult Class Offerings  - Enrichment activities are offered for students and adults. Student activities include art, dance, music, baton, gymnastics, Hands-on-Science, computers, Karate, and Spanish. Adult activities are determined on a quarterly basis, but include subject areas such as cooking, computers, sewing, landscaping, stained glass and boating safety. After School Care  - After School Care is provided for students in grades K-5 (ages 5 through 12) at all elementary and intermediate schools in the Shelby County System. The purpose of ASCP is to offer a safe, structured environment for school aged children, assisting them with their physical, educational, and psychological growth. The program provides a wide array of activities including homework assistance, afternoon snacks, crafts, sports, games and time to play.

Summer Camp 2010 -   Community Education operates a summer camp for students, ages 5 thru 12, at selected elementary and intermediate schools throughout the county. The program is open June 7 thru August 6, but closed on Monday July 5th. Learning activities and field trips are major components of the program. Registration deadline is Friday, May 7th, 2010
