Health Plans
Full-time employees receive a full allocation toward health insurance options.
For full-time employee health insurance costs, please click on the
link listed below and refer to the column titled 'Monthly
Out-of-Pocket costs'. Part-time employees are eligible for health insurance
at pro-rata rates. Part-time employees may contact the Payroll department for
more information on health insurance rates.
Cafeteria Plan
The Shelby County School's Cafeteria Plan is a benefit program based on Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code and allows premiums or deductions for the plans listed below to be paid with pre-tax dollars.

Contracts
Certified staff members are issued contracts in accordance with the Alabama State Tenure Law. After three consecutive, successful years of service within the district, employee status changes from non-tenured to tenured.
Note: During the 2009-10 contract year,
twelve-month employees will be required to work an additional three
days when schools are closed. This is in order to meet the obligatory 240 days in the twelve-month contract. The days
to be worked are Wednesday, Novemeber 25, 2009; Monday, December 21, 2009; and Tuesday, December 22, 2009. As always, vacation leave or personal leave may be
used for these days. |
