The ESL Department of Shelby
County Schools supports the mission of Shelby County schools which
recognizes the diverse student population of the school district
and seeks to educate all students by facilitating, advocating for
and leading in the appropriate instruction of English language
learners, national origin minority and immigrant students.
Additionally, the ESL Department aids all schools and the school
district in communicating with families in a language they
understand in order to insure parental and student understanding
of school culture and rules, parental involvement, instructional
goals and objectives as well as student achievement.
