The Operations department oversees and supports the Child Nutrition, Transportation and the Maintenance and Facility programs. In addition, the department is responsible for managing the overall Energy Management, Custodial Services and Facility Rental Agreements.

- The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded 20 Shelby County Elementary and Intermediate schools with the Gold Medal of Distinction through the HealthierUS School Challenge program. The schools recognized include all Shelby County elementary and intermediate schools. The HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) is a voluntary initiative established in 2004 to recognize those schools participating in the National School Lunch Program that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity. The Child Nutrition program serves over 3,468,267 lunches served annually.
