Mrs. Genét Holcomb - Principal
Originally from Chilton County, Mrs. Holcomb began her educational career in 1989 at Clanton Elementary. During her career she has been a special education teacher, a Reading Recovery teacher, a Title I reading and math teacher, as well as a second and third grade classroom teacher. Mrs. Holcomb served as assistant principal of Inverness Elementary and most recently as assistant principal at Helena Intermediate.
Mrs. Holcomb earned her Education Specialist degree from Samford University in 1999. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, also from Samford University. Mrs. Holcomb earned a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Montevallo.
Krista Townsend - Assistant Principal
Mrs. Krista Townsend holds a Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership and Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a certification in mathematics from the University of Montevallo, and a Master’s Degree in English as a Second Language from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has been in education in the Calera Community for the past eleven years as a classroom teacher and math coach. Mrs. Townsend is privileged and honored to continue serving the students, families, and staff of Calera Elementary.
Kathleen Keelin - Counselor
Mrs.Kathleen Keelin is a Licensed Professional Counselor who graduated from Binghamton University with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and from the University of Montevallo with a Masters of Education degree in Counseling. Born and raised in New York, she and her husband relocated with their four children to Hoover twenty years ago. She worked in a private k-8 school for the last 13 years and is very excited to be at Calera Elementary working with k-2 students.
