Beta Club

Beta Club promotes character, develops leadership skills, encourages service involvement, and recognizes academic achievement.  The induction ceremony is usually held in February.  Dues are $15. To be eligible for induction into the Chelsea High School Beta Club, a student must meet the following criteria:  (1) a minimum grade point average of 3.6 out of 4.0  (2) no discipline referrals (the only exception is just one Class I infraction)  (3) pursuing a regular or advanced academic diploma.

Carpe Libris Club

For book lovers or the curious. Open to 11th and 12th graders-Student book reviews, exchange of knowledge, and good fellowship. This year's project included a donation of over 450 children's books to Toys for Tots.

French Club (Le Cercle Fran├žais)

The purpose of the Chelsea High French Club is to promote the learning of the French language and culture. The French Club is open to any student interested in the French language or culture.  Dues are $15. Some of its activities include National French Week, Mardi Gras, and fundraising. The French Club also attends special events like local theater productions (by French playwrights) and French movies.

Future Business Leaders of America

FBLA is an international vocational student organization that is a component of the Business Education program.  Meetings will be held in the mornings, about once a month, at a time to be announced.  The dues are $20.  FBLA members will demonstrate leadership as they participate in local school activities, as well as district, state, and national competitions.  The competitive events include Computer Concepts, Computer Applications, Business Calculations, Keyboarding, Business Communications, Graphic Presentations, and others.  FBLA allows students to come in contact with individuals that can assist in your career goals and dreams.  All students that are taking Business Education courses are encouraged to be active members of FBLA.

Mu Alpha Theta

Mu Alpha Theta is a national Mathematics honor society.  An induction ceremony is usually held in March each year.  To be considered for membership in Chelsea High School's chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, a student must (a) be currently enrolled in Algebra II, Advanced Algebra II, Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus, Honors Pre-Calculus, or AP Calculus (b) have completed a total of five semesters of mathematics courses beginning with Algebra I or Advanced Algebra I, Geometry or Honors Geometry, and at least one semester of Algebra II or Honors Algebra II (c) have earned no less than an 85 for any semester average in these math courses taken prior to this school year, and, for this year's math course, have earned no less than a "B" average for any nine weeks grading period or the semester exam for the first semester*, and (d) have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better as of the beginning of the second semester of the current school year.  *AP Calculus grades will be weighted 10 average points and grades in honors math courses will be weighted 5 average points.

National Art Society

National Honor Society

From its inception, the National Honor Society was established to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership0, and to encourage the development of character.To be eligible for selection, a student must be seeking an Advanced Diploma, maintain a 3.9 GPA, have no infractions within the Code of Conduct, have been in attendance at CHS for a period of one semester, and be a member of the sophomore, junior, or senior class. The final selection of members is by a majority vote of a faculty council. The induction ceremony takes place in April.

P2P (Peers To Peers) Club

A new club that is sponsored by the Peer Helpers.  The objective of P2P Club is to celebrate the diversity of the students at CHS while building "cross-clique" relationships through team building activities and diversity training.  This group is a service group whose intention is to build unity and pride at CHS.

Scholars' Bowl

Chelsea High School has two award-winning Scholars' Bowl teams. Students try out for the teams in October and then practice two hours per week as they prepare for tournaments held in February. In the past few years, Chelsea's teams have performed ably at the Shelby County Scholars' Bowl Tournament and have excelled in Alabama Scholastic Competition Association (ASCA) tournaments as well.
