Advanced Symphonic Band:  The links below are for the 2nd and 3rd All-State pieces needed for the January 14th audition at Hoover HS.  You will still need to play the 1st All-State piece which you auditioned with for me at the beginning of the year.

About us

     Oak Mountain Middle School, located in north Shelby County, Alabama has one of the largest band programs in Alabama. The band  has 300+ members this school year.  Performing groups include a Pep Band, Jazz Band, two Beginning Bands, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and an Advanced Symphonic Band. 

      The bands at Oak Mountain Middle have consistently made superior ratings at District and State Contests as well as other area festivals.  In the Spring Semester of 2009, the Symphonic Band, and Advanced Symphonic Band received Superior ratings at District Assessments.  Symphonic and Advanced Symphonic participated in the Trills and Thrills Concert Band Festival in Pigeon Forge, TN and received all Superior ratings.

      Many of the students audition for All-State, Honor Bands, and the Shelby County Honor Band Festival.  In December 2010, we had 22 students chosen for the UAB Honor Band. In 2009, 47 students made up over 52% of the Shelby County Junior High Honor Band. In 2011, 8 students made the All-State Band with 1 alternate, 29 students were accepted in the District IV Honor Band.
