A Leader in Education

Riverchase Middle School opened in 1977 and serves the community of Pelham, Alabama. Riverchase provides outstanding educational opportunities for students. Our school has two computer labs, a Read 180 lab, and our Media Center also provides 44 wireless computers for use by our students. RMS is known for providing for all students' needs by using varied educational techniques as well as providing data-driven instruction for our students through the development of our data room. Our goals include accountability for improving student performance.

 We offer enrichment programs through gifted education as well as a vast array of electives including foreign language, technology, and show choir. Riverchase has been named a "CLAS Banner School" and we continue to be associated with the "Making Middle Grades Work" initiative.

Our mission is to provide optimal learning experiences, which continue to promote the development of each child within a safe, secure learning environment.

Beliefs

We believe:

1. Every child should be provided a safe, secure environment conducive to student learning.

2. Each child is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, intellectual and cultural needs.

3. A child's self-esteem is enhanced by positive relationships and mutual respect among and between students and staff.

4. Children learn in different ways and we should provide a variety of instructional approaches to support their various learning styles.

5. Learning needs should be the primary focus of all decisions impacting the work of the school.

6. A challenging learning environment increases individual student performance.

7. All students can become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.

8. A partnership among the total school community is vital to providing a quality educational experience for our students.
