Principal, Dr. Ke'Andrea Jones
Dr. Ke'Andrea Stephens Jones took the principal's position on February 21, 2007. Dr. Jones received her B.S in Elementary Education from Alabama State University and an M.A. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her certification in Administration, as well as her Ed.S are from Samford University in the field of Educational Administration. Dr. Jones recently completed her Ed.D in Educational Leadership at Samford University. She has been in education for twelve years and has been a Reading Specialist and classroom teacher, teaching first, fourth, and fifth grades. Before coming to TIS. Dr. Jones was employed by the Jefferson County School System and was the assistant principal at Helena Intermediate School.
Dr. Jones lives in Helena, Alabama with her husband -- Stanley Jones. Dr. Jones is excited to have an opportunity to lead this school.
"My philosophy has always been that all children can and will learn. I look forward to being a part of that learning process," says Dr. Jones.
Assistant Principal, Lea Grimes
Lea Grimes became Thompson Intermediate School's assistant principal in the fall of 2007. Lea Grimes has been a member of the TIS staff since 2000. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education specializing in Mild Learning and Behavioral Disorders and her Master of Arts specializing in Emotional Conflict from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Grimes recently completed her Certification in Educational Leadership at the University of Montevallo. She has been in the field of education for 10 years. Her background includes knowledge and experience in the field of special education working primarily in 4th and 5th grades. Mrs. Grimes also served as the TIS Interventionist for the past 2 years working with parents, teachers, and students to help students who were at-risk.Mrs. Grimes lives in Helena, Alabama with her husband, Jason, and her daughter, Josie. She truly enjoys the community of Alabaster and looks forward to continuing to be a part of the leadership of Thompson Intermediate School.
