Building Construction

GOAL

To equip students with the employability and technical skills required for employment and/or advanced training in the growing field of Construction Technology.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

TThe Career Technical Educational Center offers a simulated work experience for students interested in the Construction Technology industry, the program is designed to introduce students to each stage of the construction process: site layout, foundations, flooring, wall systems, roofing, electrical and plumbing. Students are given the opportunity to prepare for the Construction Technology industry through various means: NCCER Education Foundation curriculum, simulated lab experiences, field trips, guest speakers, hands-on activities, community service/leadership experiences and work based learning opportunities at local companies.Many of our second year students participate in work based learning experiences which is an invaluable experience.Through a comprehensive program, students work toward becoming college and career ready in a high demand career field. Construction Technology students have the opportunity to further their knowledge and skills by participating in state and national leadership conferences through SkillsUSA. Students are eligible to obtain nationally recognized industry credentials by completing standardized tests successfully. Are you interested in working in the Construction Technology industry? ARTICULATED COLLEGE CREDITS

There are college credits articulated through the State Department of Education and the Alabama Public Community College System depending on which community college that you attend after program completion and whether they offer the program or not. You could earn up to 30 hours of college credit.

Skills USAThis is an organization for students in technical, skilled and service careers. SkillsUSA offers Construction Technology students an opportunity to compete against other students from Alabama and other states across the country.
