April Brand, Principal
Ms. Brand is in her 24th year of education. Over the course of her teaching career she has served as both an
instructional coach and science teacher, as well as coached numerous girls’ athletic teams. Prior to joining the administrative staff of Helena High School, Ms. Brand served as assistant principal at Oak Mountain High School. Prior to
moving into school administration, Ms. Brand served as a science teacher at Homewood High School. Ms. Brand earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Jacksonville State University. She completed her
certification in Educational Administration and her Educational Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership from Samford University. Ms. Brand is honored to serve as the Principal of Helena High School and is thankful for the
wonderful students, outstanding teachers, and supportive parents that help make Helena High School successful.
Daivd Butts, Assistant Principal
Mr. Butts has over 15 years experience in public education. Before joining the Helena High team,
he served as the Coordinator of the Comeback Academy at Thomasville High School. Mr. Butts earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Faulkner University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and
Administration from the University of West Alabama.
Jennifer Lowe, Assistant Principal
Ms. Lowe has over 12 years experience in public education
and most recently served as a Spanish teacher at Helena High School. Ms. Lowe earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and Spanish, along with a Master’s degree in Foreign Language
Education at Auburn University. She completed her degree in Instructional Leadership at the University of Montevallo.
