Desaree Jackson

Desaree Jackson - Principal

Ms. Desaree Jackson is the current principal of Calera Middle School in Montevallo, AL, and has over 16 years of experience in education. She is the 2022-2023 District 5 Middle School Principal of the Year. She was previously employed as an Assistant Principal at Thompson Middle School in Alabaster, AL, and Ninth Grade Coordinator at Northview High school in Dothan, AL. She was a former Biology teacher at Thompson High School and an Anatomy & Physiology teacher at Jeff State University. Ms. Jackson is also a member of the Psi Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Jackson obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Montevallo; a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from The University of Alabama in Birmingham; a Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Montevallo and an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Montevallo.

Rashard Jemison

Rashard Jemison - Assistant Principal

Mr. Jemison is in his 12th year of education. He was the assistant principal at Sumter County School System for the last two years at Livingston Junior High School. Prior to that, Mr. Jemison was a Sumter County School System physical education teacher and middle school basketball and football coach.

Jennifer Nabors

Jennifer Nabors - Assistant Principal

Mrs. Nabors was raised in the Calera community and has been at Calera Middle School for seventeen of her twenty-one years of teaching. She has served in many leadership roles while teaching at Calera Middle. Her goal as an administrator is to create an environment where all stakeholders feel welcome and appreciated.

The CAMS administration is available to meet with parents to answer questions and to address concerns. If you would like to schedule a conference or if you would like to speak with one of the administrators by phone, please call the school office at 682-6140. Please provide a telephone number at which you can be reached if circumstances prevent an immediate response to your call. The Calera Middle administration seeks to respond to questions on the same school day and certainly within 24 hours.
