Girls Can Construction Camp will be held June 9–11, 2026, from 8:00 AM–3:00 PM at the Career Technical Education Center in Columbiana. This FREE, hands-on camp is open to girls currently in 8th–10th grades across Shelby County. Participants will explore carpentry, welding, and electrical trades while completing projects they’ll take home on the final day. Lunch, snacks, and drinks are provided daily. Our FCS students have been busy bringing industry skills to life! 👩🍳✨ Hospitality students explored careers in sports, recreation, and attractions before wrapping up with a sports-themed pizza lab.🍕Food & Beverage students learned from a local restaurant owner and participated in hands-on kitchen simulations, including creating scratch-made vinaigrettes.🥗Cultural Foods students studied the Hawaiian Islands, hosted a mini luau, and connected food, tourism, and culture.🍍 To celebrate Fat Tuesday, classes prepared jambalaya, shrimp po’boys, and king cakes while applying professional culinary techniques.🎉 We’re proud of their teamwork, creativity, and commitment to hands-on learning!
