Adopt A Class

Chelsea Park Elementary PTO offers “Adopt-a-Class” at the beginning of each school year. Teachers are responsible for providing a lot of their own classroom resources from books and bins to paying for copies! As you can imagine, this adds up quickly. It takes $100 to “Adopt” each classroom.

Adopt A Hornet

Many parents and family members want to sponsor their child’s teacher, but cannot donate as much as a business. We created the Adopt-a-Hornet program to allow more people to help sponsor classrooms. In the lunchroom, we have the CPES Hornet’s nest and we have all the “adopted” hornets surrounding it. For $50, you can adopt a hornet and have your child’s name or family name printed on the hornet that will be put on display. If you have already paid the $25 suggested donation for your child’s homeroom, you can get a hornet for just an additional $25. 100% of this money goes directly to your child’s class! If you choose, you may also adopt a hornet to sponsor a specific department within the school, such as, ESL, GRC, Music, P.E., Art, Library, Reading, or Guidance.

All checks should be made payable to
Chelsea Park Elementary School.

Returned Check Policy

Your check is welcome! The Shelby County School System recognizes that occasionally a parent may inadvertently overdraw a checking account and a check may be returned by your bank. In order to recover these funds in a private and professional manner, the Shelby County School System has contracted with CHECKredi Payment Services, for collection of returned checks.

Checks should be written on a commercially printed check with your name, address and contact telephone number. When a person writes a check to a school or the School System, he or she agrees that, if the check is returned for any reason, it may be presented electronically on the same account, and that the Service Fee for returned checks established by law, may be debited from the same account. If three or more checks from the same family are returned from the bank, CPES will require cash or money order for any future payments.

If the check and fee are not collected electronically, CHECKredi will contact the check writer by mail and/or telephone to make payment arrangements. All payments and inquiries need to be made directly to CHECKredi by contacting them at 1-800-239-1222.
