Holly Laney has over eighteen years of experience as an educator. She began her career as a classroom teacher at Valley Intermediate School in Pelham. She then served at Helena Intermediate School and Calera Intermediate School as the Assistant Principal for a total of 7 years. Her most recent role was the Director of Special Education and Student Services for Tarrant City Schools. Mrs. Laney received her Bachelor’s Degree in Collaborative Education from Troy University. She received a Master's Degree and Educational Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership from The University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Assistant Principal

April Maner has served in Shelby County Schools for thirteen years. She began her career at Calera Elementary School as a kindergarten teacher and first-grade teacher. She most recently served as a Local Reading Specialist for the district and as an administrative assistant for Helena Elementary. April has a bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Sciences from the University of Alabama, a master's degree in Elementary Education, a certification in Instructional Leadership, and most recently an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Montevallo.

Administrative Assistant

Jessica Cummings has served in Shelby County Schools for fifteen years.  She began her career at Chelsea Park as a Kindergarten teacher and joined the Kindergarten team at Helena Elementary in 2020.  Currently, she serves as the Administrative Assistant at Helena Elementary.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Montevallo and is currently working on a Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Montevallo.
