The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open! Seniors can complete the FAFSA by clicking on this link studentaid.gov. You can login by using your FSA ID. In Alabama, it is a high school graduation requirement to have a completed FAFSA (or signed waiver letter) on file. Also, scholarships offered from some colleges require a completed FAFSA on file. Please know that one parent or legal guardian has to create their own FSA ID - if they do not have one already. This will be needed for your senior to send you an invite to complete the parent information section as well as to sign the application. If seniors or your parents have any questions regarding FSA ID or FAFSA, please email Dr. Hamer, Career Coach at lhamer@shelbyed.org. Please make note that a FAFSA Workshop will be held in the Media Center at Calera High School from 8:00 am-11:00 am on Friday, January 17th. Financial aid specialists from Jefferson State Community College will be available to assist you during the workshop.

Parents, The following email was shared with your student today. Students: You may have noticed a new icon in your Clever called Ready Platform (see attachment for picture of icon) It's the new ACT Masteryprep platform that we are now offering as a resource to prepare you for the ACT. You are free to begin using it. There are three options within the platform: TruScore (Practice Tests) Snapcourse (you can begin using without taking a practice test) Study Hall (this will not open up until you complete the practice test). In January, we will take Practice Test 2 (please do not take it yet). You can take practice test 1 on your own if you'd like. Once you take a practice test, a Study Hall option will open up for you. This diagnostic tool will personalize a study plan and target areas where you need the most improvement within the course. Until then, you can use the Snap Course option. This will not replace the Cantrell Waller strategies you learned earlier in the year, but will be used hand in hand with it. We are so excited about this new tool! For those of taking the ACT Saturday, Good Luck🩵!
