Dear Parents/Guardians,
This is a reminder that, beginning on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Calera Middle School will enforce the FOCUS Act phone policy with increased accountability. If a student violates the FOCUS Act by having their phone or Bluetooth/wireless device in their possession during the school day, the phone will not be returned at the end of the school day.
What to expect if a phone is confiscated:
* The phone will NOT be returned to the student at the end of the day.
* Parents/guardians will be notified at the time the phone is retrieved by school staff.
* A parent/guardian must come to the school to retrieve the phone before the office closes for the day.
This change is due to an overwhelming number of students not following school policy and procedures, as well as parents instructing their children to break school rules. Parents with scheduling conflicts should talk with their child about the importance of following the law and school expectations.
We appreciate your support as we work together to keep students focused, safe, and learning throughout the school day.
Sincerely,
Desaree Jackson
Principal, Calera Middle School
