Due to the threat of severe weather, specifically straight-line winds causing downed trees and powerlines on Friday, January 12, all Shelby County Schools will be closed and students will transition to remote learning. All after-school activities are also canceled. Schools will be closed on Monday, January 15 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. We are also monitoring the weather for Tuesday morning and will announce school delays or closures as we receive more detailed weather information.

Workforce Wednesday- Organizational skills is your ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, set goals and develop systems for achieving those goals. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “A good system shortens the road to the goal.” As we begin this new semester, make an extra effort to organize your mind, time and schedule to create the best version of you.

We are partnering with Jeff State to provide students who are Seniors in Shelby County Schools an opportunity to participate in a dual enrollment EMS class on our campus. Our students this year are just now starting to do some rounds and getting to participate in the hands-on portion of this 10-hour college-level program. This is Molly Rollan, a Senior at Helerna High School, who is participating in this program. She went out and did her first round of working in the field this weekend! Keep up the great work!

Thank you to Skills for Success and Jeff State for coming out and training our instructors on mini excavators! In the spring our students will be learning how to be mini excavator operators! We also could not have done this without the support from our partners at the County!
