Program Overview

The Career Technical Educational Center offers a simulated work experience for students interested in the healthcare field in our Health Science program. Students are given the opportunity to prepare for health professions through various means: rigorous curriculum, simulated lab experiences, guest speakers, hands-on activities, community service/leadership opportunities and job shadowing at local healthcare facilities. It has been a tradition for our second year students to do rotations at the Shelby Medical Centerduring their last semester, this has served as an invaluable experience for our students.Through a comprehensive program, students work toward becoming college and career ready in a high demand career field. Health Science students have the opportunity to further their knowledge and skills by participating in state and national leadership conferences through HOSA. Students are also eligible to obtain nationally recognized industry credentials by completing standardized tests successfully. Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of others? There are no articulation credit agreements in place for this program at this time but some community colleges are becoming more flexible in taking classes or credentials for credit.
