About CTE Programs

Students who take Career and Technical Education courses will learn skills that may lead to high wage, high skill, or high demand occupations.

CTE programs are in all secondary schools. These programs are rigorous, relevant, and aligned with the business/industry standards for the workforce of tomorrow. With their acquired skills and training, students are more prepared to enter the job market or continue their education. Many of the programs offer articulation and/or dual credit with neighboring post-secondary community colleges.

Shelby County Schools offers a centralized career and technical center open to all students who attend Shelby County Schools through an application process. Visit CTEC for more information about the programs and classes that are offered.

Work Based Learning

Cooperative Education – Work Based Learning is an opportunity for juniors and seniors to be dismissed early from school and receive school credit for working in the community.
