Service Animals in Schools Policy

Shelby County Schools developed a policy to establish guidelines and procedures when a student with a disability is seeking to bring his/her service animal to school or school functions. Individuals with disabilities shall be permitted to bring their service animal into school buildings or onto school grounds in accordance with, and subject to this policy.

Shelby County Schools developed procedures and requirements for use of a service animal by students. Parents/students are required to submit the form, Student Request to Bring a Service Animal to Shelby County Schools, to the Superintendent at least 3 weeks prior to service animal’s requested presence at school.

Request form currently under maintenance. Form will be updated soon. In the meantime, please reach out to Student Services at 205.682.7046.
